Corporate social responsibility

As an agency focused on environmental issues, it is right that we reflect those and any relevant social issues within our activities. This includes how we conduct our affairs with a range of corporate stakeholders including staff, partners, customers and representatives from the community around us.

Sustainable development action plan
We are committed to sustainable development. It is integral to the way we work, as demonstrated through our company policies, our operations and our commitment to both staff and the wider community.
Environmental policy
We apply an environmental management system to pursue continual improvement in our own environmental performance.
Health and safety policy
Health and safety management is an importance aspect of our work. We are committed to health and safety management based on a common understanding of risks and how to control them. Effective control is achieved through co-operative effort at all levels within the organisation.

The Cefas Connects scheme

With a vision of "making a difference for society", our positive impact naturally extends to the communities in which we work and with whom we connect.

Our people are encouraged to share their time and skills for 1-2 days per year, volunteering or taking part in community activities. Those range from specific community roles such as school governors or auxiliary coastguards, through to volunteering for conservation work or working with schools to raise understanding of our seas.

As a government agency, we do not directly donate cash to charities; but we recognise that many of our staff want to support their chosen charities in their own time. We help this by promoting individual endeavours internally, by publicising successes and, where practical, by making our facilities available to support events.
