Other gear trials
Our gear technologists have been trialling different
fishing-gear configurations in UK waters, to reduce the level
of dicards - fish with no market value that are thrown back into
the sea. In recent years the fishing industry has collaborated with
us, by taking part in our Clean Fishing Competition (2007) and
programmes like Project 50% (2009-10), to reduce discards and
realise sustainable fisheries.
