Eels
The European eel is probably one of the most widely dispersed
species within Europe although genetic analysis suggests that it
comprises a single reproductive population. However, relatively
little is known about its complex life-cycle, particularly the
marine phase, which means that the recent severe declines in stock
numbers present particular challenges for management.
