Oyster Ground SmartBuoy, 54°25'.0N  004°02'.0E, 14/03/2006 -

Oyster ground deployment groupThese deployments form part of a UK-Netherlands collaborative monitoring programme part-funded by the UK Government's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra)

The location (Oyster Ground) has been selected as it is one of the sites monitored routinely by RIKZ using survey vessels as part of their marine monitoring programme.

The SmartBuoy will take high frequency measurements of physical, chemical and biological variables. These data will complete the picture of annual, seasonal and episodic (e.g., algal blooms, storm events) changes that are observed in these coastal waters. These data will provide insights into the mechanisms causing such changes to occur.
