Climate change

We gather and assess marine data on climate change and are working with a wide range of  partners - in scientific institutes, industry and government - to assess the risks to the UK and elsewhere, and viable future options.

Measuring

We combine the latest information with historic data, state-of-the-art predictive modelling and analysis.

One of our key services is to provide data for model validation and scientific assessment. Over the past few years we have expanded the range of measured parameters and made it more readily available for customers, by placing information online that can be accessed by all.

Assessing

We are at the forefront of national and international efforts to understand the likely impact of climate change on maritime industries and freshwater environments.

Our specialist team examine the environmental and human impacts, and potential changes to species, communities and ecosystems. They play a vital role in translating scientific information for stakeholders and policy-makers, helping them to plan for the challenges and opportunities likely to be brought about by climate change in the decades ahead.

Adapting

We are committed to developing a better understanding of what can be done to mitigate against the worst risks and damages that might occur as a result of rising sea levels, increasing temperatures, changing weather patterns and many other factors. We regularly advise our customers on these potential risks, and can also help evaluate the costs of potential adaptation policies.

Contact us for more information about marine climate change impacts, and how we can help you to address those.
